How to photograph children

The saying never work with children and animals can be true so here are some helpful tips to getting some terrific shots of that terrible two year old.

Photograph them at home or in familiar surroundings.  It means that they are more comfortable and more likely to cooperate.  Putting them in a photographic studio and then repeatedly shouting at them to smile isn’t necessarily going to get results.  Then their favourite toys are easily at hand plus change of outfit if needed.

A professional photographer should have a small backdrop that can transform any living room and a neutral background will help elevate the pictures into something special and not “here’s some we did ourselves”.

If all else fails positive praise and bribery should help!
